BEAR Gents


Boys Enthusiastic About Respect is a young men’s program for our 4th grade male students. BEAR focuses on ways young men should portray respect to others, the development of personal character, and showing honor to all adults at all times. BEAR Gents meet with BEAR advisors on a weekly basis, discussing various topics, and setting goals for themselves.

GOAL

Enhance leadership and character in all members.

Introduce members to different ways of showing respect.
  C.H.I.C.K.E.N. Club
The C.H.I.C.K.E.N. Club is a group of fourth grade students who are not interested in drugs. Each October, students sign a drug-free pledge and promise to be Cool, Honest, Intelligent, Clear-headed, Keen, Energetic, and Not interested in drugs. They participate in safe activities such as pep rallies, skating parties, banquets, and CHICKEN Olympics.

  Handbells
The Children's Handbell Choir is a performance group of third and fourth graders that travel all over the Greater Houston area for shows. The boys and girls meet before school two days a week and perform after school & on weekends. This group is so well known that they often get paid for their work. Donations benefit Dunn's music department. 

  Air Bears
Dunn Air Bears is a jump rope performance team consisting of first through fourth grade students. They audition at the beginning of the year and students are chosen from each grade level to be on the team for the year. In order to remain on the team the students have to maintain high academic averages and have good school wide behavior
 
   
Dunk Club
The Dunn Dunk Club is a basketball dribbling performance team consisting of first through fourth grade students. They audition at the beginning of the year for Coach Hail. Students are chosen from each grade level to be on the team for the year. In order to remain on the team the students have to maintain high academic averages and have good school wide behavior. 

Show Choir
The Show Choirs are singing groups in third & fourth grade that rehearse one day each week during school. Students must audition for this group and parents must agree to transport their children to and from performance sites.
 

Principal's Club
Principals' Club is an incentive program for third and fourth graders developed by the campus administrators to honor those students that achieve academically and socially. Principal's Club students and faculty play board and computer games, watch movies, enjoy indoor and outdoor sports activities, and eat pizza during mini "lock-ins" from 3:30-6:30 at the end of each six weeks.
      Qualifications:

         1. As, Bs, and Cs on the report card in all subject areas
         2. E or S in Conduct on the report card
         3. 0 or 1 absence for the six weeks
         4. 0 or 1 tardy for the six weeks
         5. No office referrals
         6. No bus referrals
         7. Homework is completed the majority of the time
 

Movie Club
Movie Club is an incentive program for kindergarten through second graders developed by the discipline committee to honor those students that achieve academically and socially. Movie Club participants enjoy popcorn and a movie at the end of each six weeks.
     Qualifications:
         1. All Es in conduct on the report card
         2. 0 to 3 absences for the six weeks
         3. 0 to 3 tardies for the six weeks
         4. No office referrals
         5. No bus referrals
         6. Homework is completed the majority of the time
